About Shelly

I am an advocate of wellness for all. Influenced by the quality of life witnessed for my older relatives as they aged, I decided to create a lifestyle that would benefit myself and, with hope, others. In the process of following this path I came across the therapy of reflexology. Interested in the non-invasive, holistic quality of this therapy, I decided to take the Core Foot Reflexology program recognized by the Reflexology Association of Canada (RAC). After passing the exams in 2012, I acquired the designation of Registered Canadian Reflexology Therapist as a professional member of RAC.

Since then, I have taken many workshops to increase my skill level as a reflexologist. I am also qualified for Auricular (ear) Manipulation, Meridian Studies, Tai Chi Reflexology and had professional development training for Orthopedic Reflexology. The use of ears and meridians provides other means to potentially relieve health concerns experienced by clients.

As I age, I see and feel the changes in my body and how they impact my life. My clients value the opportunity to enjoy living and doing things they love. Gardening, walking, golfing, bicycling, yoga, weightlifting and playing with grandchildren are just some of the activities for which people want to be able to maintain their wellness. Other clients are looking for the chance to slow down the pace of their lives and enjoy the peacefulness of total relaxation.

About Foot Reflexology

Reflexology is a therapy that promotes something called homeostasis in the body. This means the body enters a relaxed state called “parasympathetic” and is able to balance internally, thereby enhancing the ability to heal holistically. This is accomplished with various techniques by hand upon the skin of the feet and lower leg.

Through the skillful application of pressure to either stimulate or sedate the reflexes of the feet, reflexology can provide relief from many health concerns. It can help with muscle and joint pain, plantar fasciitis, anxiety, arthritis, restless legs, respiratory issues, headaches, stress, digestive issues and more. Benefits can be felt in the form of improved mobility and body functions such as more robust digestion, the release of tension and stress, a deeper sense of wellness and relaxation both physically and mentally as well as decreased pain.

The therapist is trained to detect deposits and tensions in the tissues of the feet and lower legs. By palpating these reflex points, the tenderness is worked out to facilitate healing of the associated body parts, glands and organs. This opening of congestion or blockages in circulation thus allows for the body to function in a more balanced and optimal manner.

There are a variety of reflexology applications other than foot: hand, ear, facial and cranial-sacral. There is also the use of reflex points on meridians, as does acupuncture.

Reflexology therapists do not diagnose nor prescribe.
