Send Your Love Into the Future

There are ways to ensure that dignity is woven into the fabric of life. Power of the Purse, an event held by the Morden Area Foundation, does exactly that. They offer hope through local non-profit organizations trying to provide services and solutions to women, children and families in need within our community.

I attended the 2020 Power of the Purse event which is held annually every spring. I have wanted to do this for a few years now but have been involved in other events held the same weekend. This year I made a point of being available.

There were 105 ladies in attendance, graciously helping fund wonderful local community programs. Youth for Christ (John Rempel), South Central Regional Library (Cathy Ching), and Power of the Purse Endowment Fund (represented by Lynda Lambert.) These three industrious, local people presented fabulous options for which the attendees could decide where to grant their $100.00, the cost of attending the event. If you favoured two or all three of the organizations you could split your donation accordingly, or simply pick one that you felt drawn to. Notice the entire amount goes to the organizations, that means you get a free brunch as a thank you for coming out.

I met new people and connected with those I already know. The brunch was absolutely delicious and everyone I talked to raved about the quality of Jer’s Cuisine, who catered the event.

Thanks to the imagination and planning expertise of the Board of Directors and Executive Director, Lynda Lambert, 2021 will be brought to you through a thoughtful virtual presentation every bit as lovely as the live versions of the past! And…..I am excited to announce, Shelly Buhr Reflexology is one of the sponsors for the event to be held this coming spring! After a long winter it will be a wonderful way to celebrate the human spirit of giving and the advent of spring. Considering the toll of the past year there will be many more potential community needs requiring assistance for the next few years. It will be time to step up and become a leader to benefit the local women, children and families.

Let’s show our community we care and send our love into the future of Morden and area. This is your chance to share your good fortune. I look forward to hearing about your participation!

See you in 2021
